Expectations of casual teachers:

Start Times

Casual teachers are expected to  be signed in by 8.40 am.If it is your first day at Barnsley Public School we'd like you to attend a brief induction to the site at 8.30 am, although this need only be attended once. Staff engaged after a period of absence, or who have not worked here for a while may request a "refresher" induction if they desire.

Playground

At sign in you will be assigned one or more playground duties as required by the timetable of the staff member you are replacing. On playground duty you are expected to stay mobile and proactively supervise students..

Programming

Each class is working on a carefully staged learning program. Casual staff are expected to provide continuity of learningto our students so that expected curriculum coverage timeframes are met. In most cases, appropriate work will be left by the staff member you are replacing. It is expectedthat the lessons are taught in an engaging and positive manner and that all work is markedand rooms are left tidy.

Where the staff absence is unexpected, there may not be work left. In these cases the stage supervisor will inform you of the appropriate content from the class' current learning sequence and you will plan and deliver the appropriate lessons to maintain the continuity of learning. Our core business is the learning outcomes of our students.

Discipline

Barnsley Public School is a FISH Philosophy school and has a set of consistently applied rules and accompanying expected behaviours.. These rules will be displayed in every classroom.

Roll Marking

Our school marks class rolls electronically through a software package known as Sentral WebAttend. This is a straight forward process that anyone can master quickly, however you will need to obtain a temporary username and password from office staff prior to roll marking at 9.10 am sharp.
